2010 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Never participated in the Fitness Challenge before? You're just the person or team we are looking for? This challenge is all about trying something new. This is a 3 part course, designed for any level of fitness, with swimming, biking and running. Almost like an official triathlon... but without the hours of training and the long distance course. Plus enjoy a BBQ after the race.

GENERAL
The Ninth annual “Navy Fitness Challenge” will take place on Fri, 17 Sep 10. The race will start at McDonald Beach at 1000 hrs. Teams must be comprised of three personnel or you can compete by yourself in the individual competition. No competitor on a team may participate in more than one leg for his or her team in the competition. The event will consist of three legs starting with swimming, than mountain biking and finally running. A full description of each leg is listed below.

Individuals & Units interested in entering a team may obtain the registration and a copy of the route map at any of our Fitness and Sports Centres. EVENT LEGS
300 Meter Swim
The swimmers will complete a 300-meter swim, marked with buoys shaped in the form of a triangle at McDonald Beach. Once the swimmer comes out of the water, he/she passes the wrist band to the cyclist in the transition area(teams only). If competing as an individual, the member makes a quick change into cycling gear & continues on the bike route.
6.5 Km Mountain Bike Ride
The bikers will proceed out of the transition area on a bike path heading towards Caldwell Road, as the biker approached Caldwell Road they will turn around on MacDonald Beach Drive (parallel to the path) heading back towards the beach, continuing past the beach to the end of the road marked by a wired fence. The cyclist will turn around again heading back towards Caldwell Road turning back onto the path to head to the transition area located at MacDonald Beach. The bikers will then enter the transition area at McDonald Beach, rack their bike, and pass the wristband to the runner (teams only). If competing as an individual, the member makes a quick change into running gear and continues with the running portion of the race.
2 Km Run
The runners will proceed from the transition area at McDonald Beach turning right on MacDonald Beach road to the end marked by a wire fence and turn around heading back towards MacDonald Beach to cross the finish line.
