Personnel Support Programs (PSP), on behalf of the Commander Joint Task Force Atlantic, presents the 13th Annual Department of National Defence (DND) Family Days 2009. Family Days is organized to thank all of the outstanding Canadian Forces members, DND and non-public fund (NPF) employees and their families for their support over the past year.
The event includes a variety of entertainment and family activities for all ages with a Country Fair theme this year. The dockyard will be alive with carnival rides, inflatable amusements and so much more.
Prize draws will be a huge hit at Family Days this year as there is more than $40,000 worth of prizes to be won. (draw prizes to be confirmed). The prize draws take place in the Molson Canada Entertainment Tent each day at 2 p.m. The draw tickets for prizes are free but people must be there during the draw to be eligible to win.
The event offers free carnival rides and a selection of their inflatable amusements on site. Children can send a message to deployed personnel and pick up a Support the Forces tattoo. Other attractions include the trackless train, face painting, RHIB rides, helicopter displays, fire trucks, an obstacle course, clowns, and much, much more.
Hamburgers, chicken burgers, hotdogs, sausages and refreshments will be available for purchase at a reasonable cost at various BBQ stands over both days. Beverages will also be available in the Molson Canada Entertainment Tent.
On Friday evening, the Dockyard closes at 6 p.m. to prepare for the concert featuring Emerson Drive and George Canyon. The HMCS Scotian gate opens at 7 p.m. and the concert is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Admission is for age 19 and over.
Come out and enjoy the Family Days Country Fair celebration.

ID / Security Requirements
CF members and DND employees are also reminded of the security requirements when entering the Dockyard. All personnel will require a DND ID, a military family ID (MFID) or be accompanied by a military or civilian member with an ID. All non-DND personnel entering the Dockyard accompanied by a DND member, military or civilian, will require a picture ID, with the exception of children under the age of 12.
MFID cards are available to immediate family members of military personnel at the Shearwater and Halifax MFRCs. The military member must be present to sign the card. If the member is deployed, a temporary ID can be issued, but the member’s service number is required. MFIDs are issued to family members 12 and older. For information, call the Halifax MFRC at 427-7788 or Shearwater at 720-1885.
Unfortunately dogs are not allowed during Family Days 2009.
Backpacks and similar items are discouraged, as they may be subject to search and this delays entrance to the site.
