Aerobic Award of Excellence Minimize

The Canadian Forces Physical Fitness Award for Aerobic Excellence was established in 1970 to promote an active and healthy lifestyle for all serving members. To qualify for the Award of Aerobic Excellence a member must accumulate 2000 units, by means of participation in aerobically oriented activities, over a two year period. Members who register will receive a logbook, with their entries being made on the honour system. The activities, to which points are assigned, have expanded over the years and qualifying units may be earned as follows:

ACTIVITY STANDARD VALUE STANDARD VALUE

Jogging 1 km 1 Unit
Walking 3 km 1 Unit
Cycling 3 km 1 Unit

Members who register accumulate points for any of the above aerobic activities. A seal and scroll, signed by the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), are awarded for the first 2000 points accumulated. Six seals are eligible for each scroll, totalling 12,000 points. A total of seven scrolls are available under the program for a total of 84,000 points of regular and continued involvement in aerobic activities; a truly remarkable achievement.

The Aerobic Award of Excellence is a great motivator for those who are physically fit or who are just beginning an exercise regimen and recognizes their hard work and the importance of staying active.
