Archery Club
CFB Halifax Archery Club practices shooting at regulation paper targets and 3D foam animals in the Drill shed at Stadacona every Sunday and Tuesday evening.  Membership is open to Military members, their families, ex-serving members, DND patrons, and Civilians. The club is open to children from the ages of 10 and up. Younger members may be accepted based on review of the individuals maturity level. We offer limited coaching so that you and those around you are safe when on the firing line. Come introduce yourself and see what we are all about.

Auto Club
CFB Halifax Auto Hobby Club offers to its members the facilities and the equipment necessary to conduct maintenance, repairs, etc. on their vehicles. The club is open nights and weekends except Tuesdays and is located in Windsor Park in front of the Canex. Members can be current or retired military or DND employees or associate members (sponsored by a regular member). The club offers various basic courses such as welding and brake maintenance at member’s request. Visit our website for more information.

Bluefins Swim Club
If you enjoy swimming, the Shearwater Bluefins Swim Club may be for you. We are a family oriented swim club, producing top-notch competitive swimmers at all age groups (this includes Masters Swimmers). The Shearwater Bluefins Swim Club has been promoting excellence in competitive swimming for over 40 years. Our Club’s goal is to prepare young athletes for competitive swimming through a program that focuses on both individual and team excellence.

CFB Halifax Curling Club
The CFB Halifax Curling Club provides a top-caliber curling experience, with six sheets of professionally maintained ice, two attractive and comfortable lounge facilities, and free parking for more than 150 cars. We are proud to welcome both military and civilian members the CFB Halifax Curling Club.  There are many benefits of being a member including the social atmosphere, the fun, the great people and the different levels of competition.

 Jiu Jitsu Club
The Shearwater Jiu Jitsu Club is a member of the Canadian Ninja Jiu Jitsu Black Belt Fellowship and follows the theories and philosophies of Ninja-Ryu Jiu Jitsu. It teaches strikes, kicks, throws, controlling techniques, grappling and kali, which when combined, offers students comprehensive self-defense. The club operates at the Shearwater Gym and runs year-round on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Haifax Military Historical Re-Creation Club

 The Halifax Military Historical Re-Creation gets together from 7 to 10pm every Monday evening at the Community Centre in Windsor Park.  At these gatherings we have 16 Century Rapier style Fencing (SCA), Heavy Armoured fighting (SCA) these sports are supervised by qualified instructors (Marshals).  For those who are interested in the medieval arts such as chainmail, armouring, costuming, cooking to name a few, we always have folks that will make it a pleasure to instruct theese arts to all interested. As our name indicates, we do not only restrict ourselves to the medieval era but we now expanded to Victorian 18th century and beyond.  Everyone is invited to join our merry bunch.

Outback Climbing Club

Formation Halifax Outback Climbing Club is open to members at Fleet Fitness and Sports Centre (Dockyard Gym) every Tuesday and Thursday evening.  Membership is open to Military members, their familes, ex-serving members, DND patrons, and Civilians. Drop in fee is $5.00 per person to come and check us out, with annual memberships available.  Some equipment is available if you want to come and try climbing.  Please contact one of the members below to ensure visitor access at the gate.

Shearwater Girl Guides
Shearwater Girl Guides, sponsored by the Community Recreation Director, is a national organization that provides a well-rounded program for girls ages five and older. Through the organization, girls have the opportunity to earn badges, camp, and learn about the environment and first aid and much more.  Registration takes place in September.

Shearwater Scouts
Shearwater Scouts, sponsored by the Community Recreation Director, is open to both male and females. Groups range in age from five to 14 years with the option of staying until age 16. Shearwater Scouts offers youth the opportunity for outdoor camping, badge work, group activities and touring local establishments. Registration takes place in September.

Shearwater SCUBA Club (SSC)
Members of the Club dive at least one outing every weekend, and participate in weekly winter pool times at the Shearwater gym to help keep fit and ready for spring diving. Club members range in age from 15 to 70 and are certified from Basic Diver to Instructor. Family memberships are available. The Club often hosts workshops and specialty courses provided through our Instructors (on a volunteer basis) and local community groups. The Club also offers selected rental equipment, at a modest fee, to certified Club members on request.

Shearwater Skating Club
The Shearwater Skating Club dedicates itself to serving the military and civilian communities alike, to bring an interest in all aspects of skating. We are a constantly growing club with levels from Beginner to Adult to Competitive Skaters. Our executive’s goal is to provide a high level of coaching to enhance all of the levels of skating. We cater to figure skaters, hockey players and speed skaters. Our Canskate program is the flagship program for Skate Canada of which we are a proud member..

Navy Tridents Triathlon Club
The Navy Tridents Triathlon Club trains at Stadplex. The intent of the club is to develop a team-training program aimed at a goal race. During the week there are scheduled team workouts including pool work, indoor spinning, running and occasionally weights. Members can pick and choose the workouts that fit their schedules. The base program is adjusted to accommodate all levels from beginner to Ironman competitors. The Tridents include both a youth (12 years and up) and adult division, with workouts tailored to encourage fun and fitness for the whole family.

Wood Hobby Club
The Wood Hobby Club, located in Shearwater, is a woodworker’s dream come true. It provides members with equipment to work creatively and safely in a woodworking environment. Although no classroom instruction is offered, there is always someone on site to give advice or lend a hand. Storage space is available to store personal equipment and projects.

Water Polo Club
The Halifax Sea Skimmers Aquatic Club introduced a co-ed water polo recreational program to CFB Halifax in September 2007. The adult wing (16 yrs and up) trains on Monday from 1930 to 2100 at Stadplex pool starting 14 September 2009. A youth wing (8 to 16 yrs) practisces on Tuesday and Friday evenings from 1930-2100  starting 06 October 2009. The focus will be on fun, and introducing new players to the game.
